A few years ago Netflix announced a sort of alliance with director Zack Snyder. Thanks to this we received the films of Rebel Moon and in 2021 Army of the Dead. The latter was supposed to start a whole franchise of anime, prequels and sequels, but it seems that all of them have already been cancelled.

This is according to The Wrap, which had the opportunity to speak with Zack Snyder for the release of the director’s cuts. Rebel Moon on Netflix. Here the director revealed that the sequels, spin-offs and animated series have already been cancelled. Only one film from his planned universe saw the light of day: Army of Thieves.

The reason behind the cancellation was not given specifically, but it appears to be related to the performance of Rebel Moon and its director’s cuts. None of these Zack Snyder-directed releases generated the views that executives behind the streaming giant had hoped for. That’s why they decided not to continue with their plans for Army of the Dead.

Although they didn’t mention it, it’s very likely that Netflix will make the same decision with Rebel Moon. After all, the director previously said he wanted a total of six films in this universe.
