Israel is not considering dismantling its settlements in the West Bank, despite US sanctions against settlers. Dmitry Gendelman, an adviser in the office of the Prime Minister of the Jewish State, told Izvestia about this.
“The vast majority of the settlers of Judea and Samaria (West Bank – Ed.) are law-abiding citizens, many of whom are conscripts and reservists, they are fighting for the security of the country. Israel acts against all lawbreakers, wherever they are, so there is no room for exceptional measures in this matter,” he said.
In addition, the issue is not discussed within the framework of negotiations on the exchange of prisoners with Hamas.
“When our American partners talk about a Palestinian state, they mean, first of all, the contours that the parties agreed upon during the signing of the Oslo agreements. From the Israeli position, it should be noted that we will return to discussing future Palestinian statehood only after our complete victory over Hamas in Gaza. Israel is making every effort, including military pressure on terrorists in Gaza, to achieve the release of the hostages as soon as possible,” said Dmitry Gendelman.
