NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on Russia to withdraw its troops from the Ukrainian borders. He spoke about this at the Munich Security Conference, reports TASS.
The NATO Secretary General called the withdrawal of Russian troops from the borders of Ukraine an important condition for a peaceful settlement of the crisis around the republic and noted that the North Atlantic Alliance is still ready for a “substantive dialogue” with Moscow.
Stoltenberg called on the Russian side to “choose the path of diplomacy” in the context of the Ukrainian crisis and stressed that “meaningful dialogue can enhance the security of all European states, including Russia.” At the same time, he pointed out the unacceptability of Moscow’s demands to stop NATO expansion and not deploy the alliance’s weapons on the eastern flank.

“The current crisis demonstrates the importance of the transatlantic relationship for European security. The two world wars and the Cold War taught us that there is no real security in Europe without strong transatlantic ties,” Stoltenberg added.
Earlier, the NATO Secretary General said that today in Europe there is the largest concentration of troops since the Cold War. He also opined that Russia “could launch an attack at any moment and without warning.”
