United States.- The launch of Boeing’s first manned space mission was abruptly suspended this Saturday, just four minutes before scheduled takeoffaccording to information from NASA.
The mission, which was intended to take two NASA astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS), was canceled without notice from the launch pad at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.
Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft was scheduled to take off at 12:25 p.m. (16:25 GMT), carrying NASA astronauts Barry Wilmore and Sunita Williams on board.
This mission was especially significant for Boeing as it would mark its debut in sending a human crew to space, a highly anticipated milestone.
NASA communicated the suspension through its official channelsstating: “Teams have canceled today’s launch attempt @BoeingSpace ‘#Starliner Crew Flight Test due to an automatic ground launch sequencer hold. Tune in for updates.”
So far, the specific causes that led to the suspension of the launch have not been reported.
NASA and Boeing have previously indicated that they have alternative dates for the launch attempt, including next Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday. More details about the reasons behind this decision and the new tentative date for takeoff are expected to be offered in the coming hours.
