Nairo Quintana finished in sixth place in the general classification of the Occitania Routea competition that was won by Michael Woods and whose last stage between Les Angles and Auterive, of 188 kilometres, was won by Nicolo Bonifazio.
The cyclist from Boyacá of the Arkea-Samsic team achieved his fifth ‘top’ 10 of the season, after the title in the Tour de la Provence, in the Tour des Alpes-Maritimes, fifth place in Paris-Nice, fourth place in the Tour of Catalonia and his position in Occitania.
(Santiago Buitrago, fearless to fight for the lead in Bahrain)
(Hernán Torres: ‘From Nacional I’m worried about everything, how he attacks and how he defends’)
The mountain was key in defining the competition and there Quintana did not look so good, he was surpassed by Woods and Rodríguez, who arrived better prepared.
Nairo Quintana arrived with the aim of looking at his form for the Tour and can get positive results, although it is clear that it lacks a bit.
This sixth place indicates that the season of the 2014 Giro d’Italia champion rider is good. What he has done gives him confidence for what is to come in France.
Quintana, in this way, was ready to face his ninth participation in the Tour de France from the first of July.
