Owner of X posted the message when responding to a user who spoke of Wellington Luiz Firmino, sentenced by the STF to 17 years in prison
The owner of X (ex-Twitter), CEO of Tesla and founder of SpaceXElon Musk, said that the decision of the STF (Supreme Federal Court) to sentence Wellington Luiz Firmino to 17 years in prison for the invasion and depredation of the buildings of the Três Poderes on the 8th of January is “excessive”.
The defendant was tried for the crimes of armed criminal association, violent abolition of the Democratic Rule of Law, attempted coup d'état, qualified damage and deterioration of listed property.
“Unless there is something missing here, the punishment is far greater than the crime”declared Musk in his profile on X on Tuesday (March 12, 2024). He responded to a user's post that stated that Wellington was condemned “for climbing to the top of a government building to film the massive pro-Bolsonaro protest.”
To date, 131 defendants have been convicted of participating in the attacks. More than 1,300 people were reported by the PGR (Attorney General's Office).
