Coalition
Linda: The young people are beautiful and promising
Talvitie says that it has chosen for the event organized in Tampere, Linda, a promising young artist from the Satakunta region, i.e. Linda Teränen.
“Young people are the future. This song asks what we need to know to know what we will become when we grow up. The song has the idea that the world is open and there are unlimited possibilities. It also includes equality of opportunity: someone wants to write songs and tell different stories,” Talvitie explained the choice.
Basic Finns
Ultra Bra: I protect you from everything
Laitinen, the chairman of the Basic Finnish Youth, said that Ultra Bra's “greenish pop” was selected because he likes the music of the 90s. “I will protect you from everything you can think of to fear,” the song sings.
“If Finnish society takes on too much debt, there will be a wall somewhere. When we take cost-saving measures, in the long run we can maintain this welfare state,” said Laitinen.
Sdp
Samu Haber: Here we come
According to Sdp's Perholehto, the song selection was made by the chairman of the party Antti Lindtman.
“At Sdp, we have tried to change the way of thinking to the fact that young people also have the present. The song sings 'here we come' in relation to the rest of the world and every young person should have the opportunity to pursue their own dreams, big or small. The song also says that you must not let fear win. It means that there are different times and struggles in politics, but we people can do better together,” Perholehto reasoned.
Center
Acid Radio: Speak with a voice I hear
The center's party secretary justifies the choice of song by the fact that he fell in love with the rhythm of the song in question for the first time while studying in Tampere.
“It describes the party, because this is a two-way message. Finnish youth is a diverse group. It is important for young people to speak their goals out loud to Finnish decision-makers. On the other hand, it reflects the city center's attitude towards young people. We sometimes have interpretation difficulties, and politics may not always be done on the young people's terms. We want to hear, listen and understand the spectrum of young Finns”, Siika-Aho stated.
Green
Chlamydia: Request
Virta, the chairman of the Greens, justified the song by saying that before politics he worked in child protection. Among other things, the song asks that the narrator's childhood not be taken away.
“Sometimes I wish we could see the whole and fulfill the request of this song. If that were to happen, we would have a better and safer society overall. The nonsense that everything could be done without money and resources is not true. We cannot fail to help those young people who need help,” Virta stated.
Left Alliance
Antti Autio: All right
According to Vuorinen, the chairman of the left-wing youth, the song selection describes the diversity of youth.
“Youth is not all about drugs and happiness and it doesn't have to be just dreary and oppressive. Young people are individuals and we should be able to support all young people on their way to adulthood. We have to make a policy that offers equal opportunities”, Vuorinen explained the choice.
