Juarez City.- The Municipal Government’s Education Department delivered the bank references for the Social Equity Scholarships for the second call for applications in 2024.
He explained that this time there are 5,666 financial supports, resources that can be used by parents or guardians to purchase school supplies, uniforms and registration fees.
Martha Aracely González Holguín, head of the department, indicated that deliveries will take place from August 5 to 7.
Yesterday, Monday, August 5, the procedures were carried out at the Josué ‘Neri’ Santos gymnasium. Today, August 6 and tomorrow, August 7, the delivery will take place at the facilities of the Coordinadora de Atención Ciudadana del Suroriente, in the Zaragoza neighborhood.
The opening hours for today, Tuesday, are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for those whose first letter of their father’s surname is A to L; while on Wednesday, August 7, bank references will be given at the same time to the rest of the students who were previously approved.
González Holguín commented that for the municipal president, Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, it is important to contribute to the education of the people of Juarez, and that is why 18,666 scholarships have been awarded so far this year.
He said that since 2023, it has been approved that this economic benefit can be used by up to four siblings from a single family, as long as they meet the requirements established in the call.
She stressed that the current municipal administration has worked to ensure that more families can access these Social Equity Scholarships, since the requirements are now easier to meet; in addition, for the first time the benefit is granted to children in all preschool grades.
Parents of beneficiaries thanked the mayor for the financial support received, as is the case of Mariela Olague, a resident of the Felipe Ángeles neighborhood, who received a scholarship for her two children, who are in the first and fourth grade of primary school.
She said the money will allow her to pay the registration fee and buy uniforms and school supplies for both children, since it is impossible to cover these expenses with the income they receive at home.
María Parada, from the Parajes de Oriente neighborhood, said that her son’s preschool teacher motivated her to participate in the call for applications, so she submitted the requirements without any hope of being selected.
