The team of MultiVersusthe cartoon-themed fighting game, has released a new trailer showing off The Joker in action within the game. Furthermore, it seems that the Powerpuff Girls are the next characters coming.
Here’s one official character description published by Warner Bros. Game: “Played by actor Mark Hamill (Batman: Arkham, Batman: The Animated Series), DC’s iconic supervillain is a Wizard-class character with a moveset full of fiendish surprises befitting the Clown Prince of Crime, including a weaponized stilt, spring-loaded boxing gloves, a rocket launcher and more. The trailer also features “The Batman Who Laughs” and “The Dark Prince Charming” variants.

The trailer shows the Bat Computer being attacked by a virus created by Joker. Before the virus infects your computer, the screen shows a number of existing MultiVersus characters. The Powerpuff Girlswhich have not been confirmed for the game so far, can be seen in the top right corner.
The beginning of the trailer therefore seems to indicate that the Powerpuff Girls will arrive sooner or later in the game. The Powerpuff Girls were part of a list of characters discovered through datamining who appeared to be intended for the original version of the game, along with characters such as Samurai Jack, Fred Flintstone, Johnny Bravo, Scorpion, and Ted Lasso. Recall that MultiVersus was published in July 2022 in open beta and achieved enormous success. Warner Bros. – a month after launch – had also stated that the Super Smash Bros. style fighting game had been downloaded from over 20 million players.
Obviously over time its success waned and by February 2023 it had lost 99% of its players. The full version of MultiVersus will officially arrive on May 28th: it will be made in Unreal Engine 5 and will have various reworks to improve the game formula, such as dash attacks and parries.
