Unboxing and features
MSI AXE5400 is the name of a USB WiFi adapter, designed precisely to maintain a stable and as efficient connection as possible during your gaming sessions. Contrary to the classic pen drives that perform a similar function, MSI AXE5400 it is equipped with the latest technologies on the market and supports the 6 GHz band. But let's get into the specifics in detail:

Once the package is opened, the pen will arrive equipped with the classic quick guide manuals and a very comfortable stand, where to store it if you want to place it on a desk while in use. I have to say that the design is really well thought out, and the object that recalls futuristic contours makes a beautiful impression on the eye. An important factor, however, is the one relating to the functionality which we will talk about immediately.
MSI AXE5400, field test
I want to immediately talk about what in my opinion can perhaps be defined as the only real flaw of this product: compatibility. The company writes in black and white that if you want to use MSI AXE5400, you will necessarily have to have a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC. In my opinion this is a major limitation, both as regards Apple users, but especially for Linux owners. Releasing drivers to overcome this flaw would certainly expand the possible customer margin. I hope the company can think about it in the future.
Returning to the heart of the review, the operation of the stick is very simple: you insert it directly into the PC, or into the appropriate base and then connect it via USB cable. Once this is done, Windows should detect it automatically and allow you to connect to the available WiFi networks from the appropriate menu. Otherwise, by going to “Computer” and double-clicking on the key entry, you can manually install the drivers. Having tested it on 3 different Windows PCs, I can assure you that there is no problem whatsoever related to the configuration.
I was also very surprised by the reception range of the instrument. I carried out several tests using a laptop and I must admit that compared to other traditional sticks, the reception range is much wider. In addition MSI AXE5400 allows you to access Wi-Fi 6E from any PC and this is probably the real strong point of the product. In summary: Wi-Fi 6E is the evolution of Wi-Fi 6 and unlike its predecessor leads to higher speed, lower latency and also greater overall safety.
Furthermore, interference in the network is also limited (along with other minor advantages that this is not the place to analyze). The bottom line is that Wi-Fi 6E is a step forward that you'll come to appreciate. Obviously all this as long as you have a modem that can support it this standard. We mentioned the safety factor: this MSI AXE5400 uses the WPA 3 standardand even in this case it is the latest standard in this sense.
Definitely this tool it is designed for demanding users, who wants to fully exploit the latest technologies on the market and wants to have a reliable and high-performance product. However, we must not forget that no receiver will ever beat the classic cable connection which is not subject to disturbances and obstructions. During my test however, MSI AXE5400 always left me satisfied and it has never given me any problems.
