The world of sports is in mourning after the death of the Spanish gymnast Maria Herranz, who at the age of 17 died from meningitis, reported the mayor of Cabanillas del Campo, municipality in which the athlete resided.

Herranz was a trampoline gymnast at the Ruditramp club in Cabanillas del Campo and represented Spain at the World Cup in Birmingham (United Kingdom) in November unemployed, in which he finished in box 26 next to Carmen hernández
Also last year, but in the Spanish Championship, she placed fourth in double minitramp and with the team in trampoline, and fifth in synchronized, with Hernández.
The communication said that the athlete died “suddenly and in just 24 hours, due to terrible meningitis.”
“It leaves inconsolable sadness in the town. A member of a long family of Cabanillera descent, María was a charming, sweet, friendly girl loved by everyone, and a great example as an athlete,” it was commented.
“The City Council of Cabanillas del Campo wants to express its deepest sorrow and pain for such a tragic circumstance, and sends its deepest condolences to all of María's family and friends, many of them residents of the municipality. We also extend our condolences to her fellow students and the entire Ruditramp Club family,” the statement added.
