Silverstone, a day of historic liveries
To honor the 75th anniversary of the World Championship, the MotoGP teams will take to the track this weekend with 11 special liveries. They could only do so at Silverstone, the temple of motorsport, with the aim of marrying the tradition of the past and the emotions of the present.
Among the most appreciated liveries is that of the YamahaThe Iwata-based manufacturer, which is looking for a way out of the technical quagmire in which it has been immersed for the last two years, will race the British Grand Prix honouring its first victory in the 500cc World Championship: the historic YZR500 ridden to success by Giacomo Agostini in 1975 (the last of the 15 championships won by the champion).
Yamaha livery, the photos
Here are photos of the M1s racing this weekend at Silverstone.
This is one of the most iconic liveries in the history of MotoGP, which debuted in 1961 and then graced Iwata’s bikes throughout the Seventies. Quartararo and Rins also took inspiration from Jarno Saarinen’s equipment for the design of their suits and special helmets. The design of Remy Gardner’s special helmet – who will race as a wild card – is inspired by Eddie Lawson.
