After the high-style events of the competition, GasGas Tech3 has opted for something much softer to unveil the KTM RC16 which will be raced by Pedro Acosta and Augusto Fernandez in the 2024 MotoGP.
At 11.30, in fact, the team directed by Hervé Poncharal published a video of just over three minutes on its social channels and on those of the Spanish brand, in which it showed the new, captivating color of its new creatures.
And the eye cannot fail to fall on an important novelty, namely the significant arrival of the Red Bull brand on the fairings. In fact, the motorbikes are no longer plain red, but have a blue band both on the sides and on the front fairing, on which the energy drink logo appears.
“One of the most exciting things to happen this winter is the return of Red Bull with Tech3, and we are extremely happy to have them back on our MotoGP bike,” said team principal Poncharal. “This season will be more exciting than ever, with a very competitive starting grid: the drivers and technical packages are very close to each other, so I really believe we are ready for an incredible show.”
“Augusto Fernandez learned a lot last year and is ready to put on a show and fight for the top positions. One of the most interesting prospects that MotoGP has seen in recent years, Pedro Acosta, will line up alongside us. His first day of testing in Valencia gave us the certainty that he has what it takes to have a brilliant rookie season, and we can't wait to go to Sepang to kick off the season!”, he added.
This makes it clear how great the expectations are for Pedro Acosta, who arrives in MotoGP not like any rookie. The driver from Mazarron, who has yet to blow out 20 candles, is indicated by many as the new generational talent that could shake this world, so it couldn't be otherwise.

For a long time there had been talk for him of a direct arrival in the official KTM team (the GasGas team should also be considered as such), branded Red Bull from top to bottom, so it should not be surprising that the brand wanted to appear from the first steps of ” Tiburon” in this new adventure, after the world titles won with his colors both in Moto3, debuting in 2021, and in Moto2 last year.
“If I think about my career and my journey so far, it's very nice! It's nice to say that I had the opportunity to race for an official team in my first season, it's nice to say that I won two titles in three years, it's nice to say that I've arrived in an official team for the first season in MotoGP. But it's also difficult to manage the pressure and the comments,” said Acosta.
“At the moment I don't want to think about the results. I only have one day on the bike and it's not the time to talk about results or objectives because it's not realistic. I will try to enjoy the test in Malaysia and get as much experience as possible to try to be competitive at the beginning of the season, but during this period we also need to gain racing experience to grow step by step,” he added
Alongside him, as mentioned, Augusto Fernandez has been confirmed. The 2022 Moto2 world champion closed his rookie season with a best result of fourth place, proving that he deserves at least another chance in the premier class. And the Austrian manufacturer decided to grant it to him, demoting a veteran like Pol Espargaro to the role of test driver to do so.
“Last year everything was new and there was a lot to learn, but towards the end of the season I had the feeling that I was fast and had good speed. I felt comfortable riding the bike, but as a rookie I had to be very patient and trust the process. When I finished 2023 I analyzed the season and saw that I had taken the necessary steps”, continued Fernandez.
“I can't wait for this year to arrive because now I have the references of each track with the RC16 and I know that on Friday we have to make a big contribution because it can decide a large part of the weekend. I am very proud to collaborate with Red Bull and to having them on the bike. It's a dream and we have everything we need to do well. It's in our hands, so let's go for it”, he concluded.
