Yamaha has overcome the obstacle of the MotoGP Grand Prix of the Americas. The Japanese brand was aware that the American round would not be at all conducive to its aspirations and approached the weekend as a basis for working for the future, testing parts and modifying the bike from one session to the next, to make progress ahead. of slopes with better expectations.
Thus, the Iwata manufacturer left behind Sunday's long race with points from Fabio Quartararo, who finished twelfth as the best driver of the Japanese brands at COTA, and the retirement of Alex Rins. The Spaniard was unable to finish the race on a circuit where he has won four times (two in the premier class), after crashing halfway through the race.
Without the Spaniard, the focus was on Quartararo, who made a mistake on the first lap, but was still able to get a decent result, given how Yamaha presented itself in Austin compared to Portimao. After the race, “El Diablo” highlighted the work done by his team over the weekend, especially in terms of set-up, before the updates start arriving.

“I went wide at turn 12 on the first lap, but I really expected worse,” began Quartararo, telling the media, including Motorsport.com, “We tried many things, and I started with a setting that we had never tried. We changed the bike in the setup and now we have to incorporate new parts.”
The driver from Nice made it clear once again that he has a clear priority in the brand, with which he will be linked until the 2026 season after its renewal. The Frenchman is thinking about the medium term and not about achieving great results straight away: “I'm not focused on results, but on improving the bike.”
As a result, Quartararo is already thinking about the next parts that Yamaha will bring him, with an update expected for his home Grand Prix in France: “A very intense month of testing awaits us. More than the quantity of new components, the quality is important. We have been using the same aerodynamics since January and only a few months have passed. We are optimistic about the update that will arrive at Le Mans, I think.”
