The French leader of the world championship on the eve of Assen: “From Portimao my season has turned: I thought about driving, not about the speed of the M1 and I feel at my best. Here too we can be strong”
“Quartararo? He has the ability to carry the weight of being a champion without being crushed by it: everyone expects you to win and he is doing it. At Sachsenring, then, in that impressive heat he did more: everyone believes they have the speed to be able to follow it, but not everyone is able to do so “. The investiture on the current level of Fabio Quartararo, world leader fresh from two victories in a row, comes from Johann Zarco, the compatriot who keeps him company in the unprecedented duo conference on the eve of the Assen GP. The Yamaha Frenchman is in fact in a remarkable state of form and wants to continue the trend at Assen.
the turning point
–
“There are all the conditions to be able to do well here too – says Quartararo -, I feel good on the bike and I believe that Yamaha can adapt better to this track. In the championship I have changed pace since we arrived in Europe: first I got complained too much about the top speed of the bike and I didn’t concentrate on riding, then from Portimao I did it and great results came. The victory in Portugal was the highlight because we were back from difficult times and from there it is not a it happens that we always got on the podium except at Le Mans. Mugello and sachsentring also represented great performances, but the turning point came in Portimao “.
less pressure
–
Fabio Quartararo is like in a bubble: he goes fast, gets the best from his Yamaha, makes a difference like no other and, incredibly, after 10 GPs he has the same points as last season. “The difference is that last year I started much stronger, while this year the start was not the best and then I grew up from Portugal – says the French -. I would say that compared to last year we are even improved, to the point that I no longer feel the pressure. Before qualifying and races there is a bit of stress, but it is something I can manage: when I had to win the world championship, last year, in those two races I felt a lot of pressure; now that I have won I think about one race at a time, I enjoy it, the Yamaha doesn’t give me anxiety and I don’t put it on my own. ” The results can be seen on the track.
