In the week leading up to the MotoGP a Buriram after the Japanese test in Motegi, at home Yamaha there is a decidedly strange atmosphere, especially as regards Fabio Quartararo: the reigning world champion did not in fact hide his disappointment for the outcome of the Japanese GP, which ended only in 8th place, but he can still enjoy an even stronger world leadership than that established after Aragon.
A ranking situation made possible above all by the fall of his direct opponent Francesco Bagnaia, which took place on the last lap, and the technical problems accused by Aleix Espargarò before the start: “Leaving Motegi with a bigger lead in the championship is good, but we have to work hard this weekend because our potential is better than eighth place – commented the French driver – I am happy that the next appointment is on the Buriram circuit, because it’s a good track for both me and Yamaha. The last time we raced here in 2019 I finished second. I will definitely give 100% to get on the podium this time too ”.
The characteristics of the Thai track are also appreciated by the Italian Franco Morbidellieager to finish once again in the points and, even before, to overcome the obstacle of Q1: “We are now in Thailand and we will try again – he has declared – we want to be in Q2, because it is important for the result of the race weekend. Buriram is a circuit that I like and it suits my current driving style, so it will be a good circuit for me to try again ”.
