Jorge Martin completed the perfect weekend today, taking home pole position, Sprint victory and Sunday race victory at the Le Mans circuit, home of the French Grand Prix.
The Spaniard from the Pramac Ducati team put together a practically perfect Sunday race. Only the start left something to be desired, but from the second lap onwards the Iberian talent of the Italian team really gave the impression of being the most trusted driver on the grid. An amalgam between himself, the bike and the team he belongs to which, to date, has no equal.
“I didn’t have a good start. Bagnaia immediately overtook me. But then when he was in front I knew that our pace was good, because we were moving away from those behind”, declared Martin at the end of the race.
After a race spent almost entirely in the exhausts of Francesco Bagnaia’s official Ducati and without experiencing pressure problems in the front tyre, Martin decided to break the deadlock and, after a first attempt, completed the overtaking in turn 3. from that From then on – apart from a slight snag one lap from the end – he had the victory within his grasp
“At that moment I was happy because I understood that the front tire pressure was OK. Today was a difficult day to stay in front due to the temperatures. So I stayed there and then I tried.”
“For a few moments I thought about finishing second and being satisfied by taking good points. But then I thought: ‘Yes, why not try?’. So I tried in 3rd but Pecco was too strong. Then it went and I’m happy to have won this race with Marquez and Bagnaia with me on the podium, because they are truly two great champions.”

Martin then spoke in more depth about the great overtaking that led him to obtain his second victory of the season. A concentration of courage, precision and study carried out in the previous days.
“It’s an overtaking that I learned to do some time ago. Today Bagnaia had an entry into turn 3 which was really very fast. Afterwards he certainly lost in the exchange but it was difficult to overtake”.
“The first time I went long, while the second time I took the risk of braking a lot risking losing the front but also to have a good exit line from the corner and I succeeded. I managed to understand the lines well I sin and then I knew where he could try to overtake me. I had studied things well. I ran an intelligent race.”
While waiting to define the future, Martin today has only one objective: that of making his team, Pramac Racing, win the title, which he will certainly leave at the end of the season but which almost feels like a second family.
“It was a perfect weekend, it’s true, but we don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Basically I think we have to race for ourselves and make Pramac number 1. And that’s our goal.”
“In the end, everyone must have what is needed in their head, running for themselves. If I start running thinking about what will happen, what they say about me, about my future… I don’t have to think about what one or the other wants to do I have to run for myself.”
“Sometimes it’s true, you ask yourself: ‘But what else do I have to do?’. But you have to know that it’s not real, I have to run for myself and do 100% what I can control. And I seem to manage to do it quite well. So I hope that at this point whoever has to see, sees.”
“I think I’m still growing, I’m working to be stronger and stronger and you can see that I’m improving a little more and I’m happy for myself.”
In short, words and, above all, facts that have the aim of convincing Ducati, in the person of Gigi Dall’Igna, to hire him for the next 2 seasons. Now in Borgo Panigale I am at a crossroads: follow the charm of trying to bring Marc Marquez back to the title, or plan a future that could be brilliant with Bagnaia and Martinator. Posterity will judge.
