The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will be a great opportunity for Jorge Martin to redeem himself, after the big mistake two weeks ago, also in Misano, which relegated him to the backup positions, losing precious points for the championship. Despite the stumble of the wrong strategy, the Pramac rider returns to the track dedicated to Marco Simoncelli as leader with a 7-point advantage over Pecco Bagnaia.
The mistake of the race is already behind him, now Martin is preparing to face the last European race before the Asian trip with the aim of continuing to lead the general classification: “I have already forgotten what happened two weeks ago, but it is also true that I really want to get on the bike. It will be an intense weekend, where everyone will be very fast, but I feel comfortable and fast. It seems that it will not rain on Saturday or Sunday and this allows me to be calm in view of the race”.
Two weeks after the race that almost made him lose the lead, Martin analyzed with the team everything that happened and was able to see the team’s unity in a difficult moment: “In difficult moments two things can happen: suffer, this always, and separate because in the end one gets angry, another has one opinion and another has another. Or suffer and unite. I think this thing unites us, understanding the reason for things will make us stronger and better to fight for the world championship”.
Precisely in the fight for the world championship, the Spaniard is the favorite if you look at the standings. However, the Pramac rider continues to keep a low profile, even though he knows he can compete on equal terms with Pecco Bagnaia, his direct rival: “Yes, I see myself as the winner of the World Championship, I’m optimistic and I like to be positive. I race knowing that I might not win it, but I also race knowing that I can win it, so I’ll give my 100%. I think I’m the fastest rider at the moment and I can do it.”

“I still have the same mentality as last year, the final part of the season suits us. Misano was a key point, knowing if I could be as fast as last year was important for me. I made a mistake on Sunday, but I could have easily won. Coming back here will be a difficult weekend, but then there will be weekends with a lot of energy, where we will race every week without stopping and that makes me feel good,” Martin continued, speaking about the expectations for the Asian trip, which motivates him a lot.
The energy of the Asian races will have to wait a little longer, because now it’s time to think about Misano, strong in the cohesion with the team after Sunday’s mistake, but also in the tests that saw several new features: “The decision of the race? In the first moments it’s a bomb that explodes, in the end when you make a decision you have to stick to it to the maximum. It didn’t go well, that’s clear”.
“Then there was the test on Monday, so we didn’t have an escape route. Today we got together and analyzed everything. We have a group of messages with the team, I like to stay in touch with the team and create closeness. On Monday we tried a new fairing, new electronics, things that can be useful for us in the future. I worked a lot with the soft tyre, which is something I needed last Grand Prix and I think we have made a step forward. Also there are new things. There are six races to go and things can arrive, it won’t be much, but, at least to me, no one said there won’t be things. We have a new fairing and parts that are arriving,” he concluded.
