Jorge Martin is clearly demonstrating how much he wants the second seat of the official Ducati team for the 2025 MotoGP season. Since the beginning of the season, the Borgo Panigale manufacturer has been looking for the name of the person who will join Pecco Bagnaia in the factory lineup. The current world vice champion has been a candidate as favorite since the first events of 2024, after having tried to make this step in 2022, even if Enea Bastianini had been chosen at the time.
Thus, the Madrid native is giving everything to realize his desire to wear red in the future with an incredible start to the season. With five victories in ten races held in 2024 (he won the Sprints in Qatar, Spain and France and the long races in Portimao and Le Mans), Martin leads the world championship standings with a 38-point advantage over Bagnaia, second, and 40 on Marc Marquez, third.
In this way, the Spaniard can do little else to convince the leaders of the Bolognese brand to have faith in him. However, Marquez’s entry among the candidates for the official position after his rapid adaptation to the Desmosedici GP23 complicated things for the Prima Pramac standard bearer.
Despite this, Martin continues to be aware of his current level, as he confessed after winning the battle against his two main rivals at the Bugatti Circuit last Sunday. In front of the media, in the press conference, he continued to maintain that he has “nothing to prove” and will have no problem offering himself to other teams in the premier class if they don’t want him “for an unknown reason”.

“I think I have nothing to prove,” said the Spaniard in statements collected by motogp.com. “I think that, regarding my future, I can say that the things that will happen in the next races will not change anything. I will win or I will fall, I think I did what I had to do and I am very happy with my performance”, he commented with the clear idea that, whatever happens in these races, Ducati’s decision will not change. The brand is expected to announce Bagnaia’s teammate at the Italian GP, at Mugello, in the first week of June.
“It’s certainly important, I think maybe the decision will be clearer, but I don’t think it will change. I’m the same driver as Saturday, last Thursday. Then they have to make a decision. I think they have already chosen and, whatever it is, it will be good. I really want to go to the official Ducati team, but if they don’t want me for some reason we don’t know, then I will offer my talent to others”, concluded Martin, convinced that the decision has already been made, even if the team is continuing to say you need to reflect.
One of the great people responsible for the choice between Martin, Marquez and Enea Bastianini will be Gigi Dall’Igna. The general director of Ducati Corse, at the end of the French Grand Prix, stated that what happened in Sunday’s race will make the decision “certainly more difficult”.
