Marc Marquez has decided to change scenery in 2024, deciding to leave Honda and embracing the Gresini team project and will share the team with his brother Alex Marquez. After presenting what will be his bike with its new colours, the rider from Cervera went to Portimao to debut with the “Gresini blue” Panigale and carry out some tests.
In the Algarve, the Spaniard shared the track with an old enemy of his, Valentino Rossi. The Spaniard and the Italian rode together today, given that it was an open test session in which all the World Superbike riders are also testing. In addition to the two, all the members of the VR46 Racing Academy are also present: Marco Bezzecchi, Luca Marini, Franco Morbidelli, Celestino Vietti, Andrea Migno and Pecco Bagnaia, with the latter signing the best time among them in 1'43″ 203.
The Doctor set a 1'45”358, more than five seconds behind the dominator of the SBK winter tests, Nicolò Bulega, who also led in Jerez just a few days ago. Marc Marquez, who rode a road Ducati, doesn't have any timed times because he doesn't have a transponder.
Most of the Superbike riders had better times than the MotoGP ones, obviously, because these are the bikes with which they will compete in the 2024 season. The others, however, ride with road bikes that serve as training. However, they were welcome, as can be seen in the video in which Toprak Razgatlioglu greets Pecco Bagnaia.
