The forecast threatens rain for the French MotoGP Grand Prix in Le Mans, but this morning the Warm-Up took place with the track dry and with a pale sun, but also with a decidedly lower temperature than yesterday : 19 degrees that of the air and 23 that of the asphalt.
Even more so, everyone opted for the soft rear tire, which was already indicated as the primary option for today’s race and is even more so with a lower temperature.
As always, the ten minutes on Sunday leave a little bit of time, but the fastest was Pedro Acosta, who lapped in 1’31″520 on the GasGas Tech3 KTM. The Moto2 world champion preceded the another RC16 by Jack Miller, who finished 170 thousandths behind.
Third time for the host Fabio Quartararo, who today shows off a celebratory livery on his Yamaha and pays for a delay of 243 thousandths on Acosta. A thousandth of a second further back is Marc Marquez, who was the only one to have dedicated a lap to scrubbing the wet tire in case the rain were to arrive in the afternoon.
The eight-time world champion opens an all-Ducati poker which also includes Franco Morbidelli, Pecco Bagnaia and Alex Marquez. It was an important morning for the reigning world champion, who this morning returned to the saddle of his first bike, the one he had discarded as a precaution yesterday after the accident in qualifying, and today he seems to have found the right feeling again with a 1 ’31″778.
Continuing to scroll through the rankings, in eighth position is Brad Binder’s KTM, a mysterious object so far this weekend, ahead of Marco Bezzecchi’s Ducati, who today will certainly want to try to make up for yesterday’s disappointment in the Sprint, in which he is fell when he was in second place.
The top 10 is completed with the first of the Aprilias, which is that of Miguel Oliveira, who precedes Aleix Espargaro. Only 13th, however, was Maverick Vinales, who didn’t start his Sunday in the best way, as he finished the Warm-Up in the gravel of Turn 2.
Enea Bastianini also entered the RS-GP class, 12th, while the world championship leader Jorge Martin seems to have paid particular attention to staying out of trouble, given that he only placed 16th with a delay of seven tenths, despite having a rear tire which more or less had the same life as that mounted by the riders who finished in the top positions.
The Hondas are still in big trouble, because the first of the RC213Vs is only in 17th position with local idol Johann Zarco. Once again Luca Marini’s sadly occupies the 22nd and last position with a gap of 1″3.
