After the great show offered in Jerez de la Frontera, with the extraordinary duel between Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez which gave the reigning world champion the second success of the season, MotoGP continues its European campaign with the French Grand Prix.
For a few years now, Le Mans has been the circuit that attracts the most spectators throughout the season and has often provided thrilling races. What is certain is that after the Spanish Grand Prix we have a very open situation thanks to Jorge Martin’s first zero of the season, which allowed the standings to shorten significantly.
Now the Prima Pramac Racing rider only has a 17-point margin over Bagnaia, but Enea Bastianini, Pedro Acosta, Maverick Vinales, Marc Marquez and Brad Binder are also quite close, with a picture that sees the top seven in the world standings enclosed in just 33 points. And watch out for the eight-time world champion, who fought for victory in both races in Andalusia, so he finally seems ready to do great things with Ducati.
In Spain, however, protagonists who had been missing for a while were also seen again, such as Marco Bezzecchi, who conquered the front row and finished on the podium, demonstrating that he is slowly finding the feeling even with a Ducati GP23 which for the moment he was finding it more difficult than the GP22.
It wasn’t an easy weekend for Aprilia, which after the excellent things shown in Portimao and Austin, will certainly want to try to make up for it on French soil. We will then need to understand if the work carried out in the tests by Honda and Yamaha will allow the two Japanese manufacturers to take a step forward and recover from a very complicated start to the season.
