In an official statement released on Monday afternoon, the International Federation (FIM), through its Permanent Bureau, confirmed the Race Direction structure for the 2024 MotoGP World Championship.
The Race Direction management body will be made up of three members: the British Mike Webb will remain responsible for the MotoGP class, while Graham Webber has been confirmed for Moto2, Moto3 and MotoE. The third step of Race Direction is occupied by George Massaro, who will be responsible for supervising the training categories, the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and the Talent Cups.
“With this experienced and cohesive team we ensure continuity throughout the Grand Prix paddock, each bringing their own experience to their respective categories and guaranteeing another year of sporting success for MotoGP,” reads the press release.
Beyond the uniform continuity from last year, except for the replacement of IRTA founder and director Mike Trimby, who sadly passed away, the most notable aspect of the FIM's announcement is the continuity in the position of president of the panel of commissioners of former driver Freddie Spencer, who has been at the center of controversy since his arrival in 2019, especially last season, when the disparity in judgment when it came to imposing sanctions created some discomfort among the drivers.
