The Ducati Desmosedici entrusted to test rider Michele Pirro is an experimental bike. In the first two days, the Borgo Panigale technicians spent a lot of time acquiring data, to find the best correlation with the simulation systems at home.
The bike, in fact, ran with a temperature gauge on the shoulder of the rear tire. We show you the eye-catching detector thanks to the precious collaboration of GPOne colleagues: it was mounted as an offshoot of the rear fork, being able to verify the variations in behavior at different times of the ride as well as with the lowering device engaged and not.
From an aerodynamic point of view, Ducati showed a fairing that had a recess in the central part (yellow circle): nothing to do with the Aprilia step that was copied by Honda, but a flow conveyor that seems to have been choked by a sort of carbon cover. It is possible that some useful tests have been carried out on the cooling system.
For the moment, the world champion team hasn’t shown what surprises it has in store at an aerodynamic level: as Gigi Dall’Igna well explained at the presentation in Madonna di Campiglio, it’s up to the opponents to chase the Emilian bikes and Ducati can play the throw-in , responding with news when necessary…
