It is not uncommon to meet former riders around the MotoGP paddock at various races around the world. So it was at the Italian Grand Prix, where Andrea Dovizioso looked into the paddock to revisit the places of a lifetime and, why not, open a door that was still ajar.
Which? The one about returning to MotoGP. The Forlì native yes he retired in 2022 on the occasion of the Misano race when he wore the colors of the then Petronas Yamaha team. An emotional farewell, that of Doviwho has since dedicated himself to his great passion, motocross, and to the work of 04 Park, the motocross track he took over.

However, Dovizioso believes that it is not yet so early to hang up his helmet and, speaking to motogp.com, he revealed that he does not rule out a return, perhaps in another capacity: “I always leave the door open, because I’m not still old. Furthermore, everyone knows my qualities and knows that I am able to help develop the bike.”
Dovi suggests, therefore, that a return would consist of a tester role. He certainly doesn’t talk about competitions, but the door isn’t closed, on the contrary. However, he has not planned anything concrete for the near future, although he wants to clarify that he did not want to stop completely at the time: “Now it is too early to talk about this, but my door is open. I have no plans at the moment, but it’s always nice when a House calls you to talk about the future. When I retired I had the opportunity to continue, but I just wanted to stop and take a break.”
