Mugello is the home race for the Italian riders and for Ducati, but the topic of the day was another in the MotoGP paddock, even if the Borgo Panigale manufacturer is always directly interested. Everyone wants to know who will ultimately win between Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez to become Pecco Bagnaia’s teammate next season and today a rumor launched by the Gazzetta della Sport took hold according to which the choice would fall on the current world championship leader, with the men in Red who would hope to convince the eight-time world champion to remain in Ducati orbit but with Pramac colours.
An idea that was returned to the sender by #93, who said he did not consider Paolo Campinoti’s team among the options for his future. The only two chances to see him still riding a Desmosedici GP are with the official team or remaining at Gresini Racing, but perhaps on a GP25.
In all this, however, these two have to compete for the title with the reigning world champion Pecco Bagnaia, the only one already certain of his future, who at this stage is only acting as a spectator and doesn’t seem too interested.
“For me, nothing changes at all. We are really talking about nothing, when it comes out, it will come out. Even publishing articles that talk about decisions taken seems to me… We have to wait and in the end we do it sooner”, said Bagnaia when stopped to talk to Italian journalists after the conclusion of the press conference that opened the weekend.
Once again, he reiterated that he had not expressed a preference between the two at Ducati, even if he actually made a small request: “Ducati asked me, but I don’t want to say anything and I don’t want to give an opinion The only thing that matters to me is that no one ruins the environment that exists in the team now, because it took many years to create it and I absolutely don’t want it to be ruined.”

Once the transfer topic was over, a thought couldn’t be missing for Mugello, where he has dominated for the last two years: “It’s already special to race at Mugello because it’s a beautiful circuit, but doing it in front of our fans makes it even more magical and special, so I’m always very happy when the Italian Grand Prix weekend begins.”
Instead, it will be important to react on Saturday, because the last three Sprints have been worth zero points and the 39 point gap towards Martin has practically all accumulated there: “I will prepare as always. In the end we know our potential, we know that we are very strong , so there is no need for extra concentration because we already are.”
This weekend, and in particular tomorrow, there could be one more variable, the rain: “If it were to be wet tomorrow morning, at least we will be able to do a few laps with the wet track, which we have never done on this track. It would be a something important also to find a setting and then I think it wouldn’t affect the rest of the weekend.”
On Sunday the official team Ducatis will race with a blue livery to celebrate our national teams, but Pecco anticipated that it won’t be the only novelty: “Yes, there will also be a special helmet, you’ll see it on Saturday morning”.
