The approach to the new Kalex continues for the Moto2 duo of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team with Celestino Vietti Ramus and Niccolò Antonelli on the track a Jerez de la Frontera for a two-day test. In the Top10 yesterday and 12th today, Celestino closes with over 160 total laps and a best time of 1.42.200 (1.42.613 yesterday, ed). Good progress in terms of settings and a 10-lap exit before going to Portugal where he will work from a perspective long run. A demanding two days, but progress also for the rookie Niccolò Antonelli, 23rd in Day1 with a time of 1.43.811 and able to remove almost half a second from his time trial mile today (1.43.385, P25, ed). Away in the away match for the whole team that this evening will move to the Autodromo do Algarve for the official Moto2 test scheduled for 19, 20 and 21 February.
Celestino Vietti: “Overall good feelings, I’m happy. We tried many new solutions, something went well, something less, but now we certainly have clearer ideas about the new Kalex. We lose something in speed and on the flying lap we weren’t perfect, aspects to work on in Portimao to get ready for Qatar“.
Niccolò Antonelli: “Two days more complicated than expected, I knew difficult days would come in this category jump. However, we continue to work with the whole team, in any case we have made other steps forward and we try to make the most of the last test in Portimao“.
Luca Brivio (Mooney VR46 Racing Team manager): “It was a busy but important two days for the whole team. We tried several new solutions and made progress with the new Kalex. Celestino above all has collected a lot of useful information that we will use as a basis. Niccolò’s apprenticeship continues: he has made some steps forward compared to Valencia and we will continue in this direction also in Portimao. It will be a very important test, there will be all the riders, more references and we will understand exactly our potential“.
