Moscow spoke about a new stage of returning to the “pre-Covid” work of the city

In Moscow, another restriction that was previously introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic will be lifted – most classes of the Moscow Longevity project will resume in an offline format. Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development, spoke about this. Most face-to-face groups will begin work by March 15.

We care about our older generation. We understand that this category of Muscovites needs special attention, and so that residents do not feel lonely, the city is developing targeted project support. Therefore, as soon as the epidemiological situation improved, we immediately resumed face-to-face classes of Moscow Longevity, not only on the street, but also indoors. Now older Muscovites will have access to all the features of the project, both offline and online. There will be no restrictions for participants – they can choose a comfortable way to participate. Most face-to-face groups will resume their work by March 15

She explained that face-to-face classes will be opened in stages, the list of open groups will be replenished by portal project.

To start classes, you will need to fill out a special form on the website or call the Territorial Center for Social Services in your area – the number is indicated on the website in the “How to become a member” section.

“Over the past two years, the project has not only been preserved, but also relaunched in a new digital format,” Rakova said. — Employees of longevity departments were the first to come to the aid of the older generation of Muscovites during the pandemic, they worked as social assistants, in call centers, temporary hospitals and vaccination centers. At the same time, they kept in touch with the participants and constantly supported them. Now the whole team is returning to its main tasks again and aims to revive the project in the pre-Covid format, when more than 215 thousand people regularly worked on it.”

The work of circles and sections of the Moscow Longevity program was suspended on March 16, 2020 in accordance with the decree of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. On April 30, 2020, online classes of the project began, in which more than 100 thousand people took part. In July 2021, older Muscovites were able to return to face-to-face outdoor activities, in winter in a mixed format. Then creative and educational classes were held online, and gymnastics, Nordic walking, general physical training, as well as the “walking lecture hall” direction (educational excursions around Moscow) were held in person. Currently, 18,000 Muscovites take part in outdoor activities.
