On December 1, People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Gradsky was escorted to his last journey. The farewell ceremony took place at the Gradsky Hall Theater in Moscow. His relatives, colleagues and fans came to pay tribute to the memory of the musician.
His colleagues Lev Leshchenko, Leonid Agutin, Alexander Rosenbaum, Grigory Leps, as well as the elder children of Gradsky – Maria and Daniil – and his widow Marina Kotashenko came to say goodbye to the singer. The composer was buried at the Vagankovskoye cemetery.
The death of the 72-year-old musician became known on November 28. It was reported that he contracted COVID-19 in September and has since felt unwell, but continued to work. In particular, he was one of the mentors in the “Voice” TV show on Channel One.
On November 26, the singer was urgently hospitalized. He suffered a stroke and was in neuro intensive care.
The musician Leonid Agutin told Izvestia that Gradsky has often complained of health recently, but it was impossible to force him to take care of himself. Agutin added that during their last meeting, which took place about two weeks ago, Gradsky was “feeling terrible.”
In connection with the death of the artist, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram of condolences to the singer’s family and friends.
Gradskiy was born on November 3, 1949 in the city of Kopeisk, Chelyabinsk region. It was decided to name one of the streets of the composer’s hometown in his honor. In 1997 he received the title of Honored Artist of Russia, and two years later he became People’s Artist of the Russian Federation.
