It's been a long wait, but finally starting next week Mortal Kombat 1 will support the cross-play between versions PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions on Steam and Epic Games Store. In contrast, the Nintendo Switch version will not support this feature.
The confirmation came via an official post from the X | profile Mortal Kombat 1 Twitter, stating that “Krossplay” will be available with the next patch arriving next week. The reasons why are not explained Nintendo Switch will not support cross-play and if this function will ever be integrated. Perhaps, this decision was reached due to the enormous technical differences in terms of framerate and loading times of this version, which could have undermined the balance of multiplayer.
Crossplay comes with Peacemaker
Capable of exceeding the milestone of 3 million copies sold just a few months after launch, Mortal Kombat 1 is undoubtedly one of the most successful fighting games of recent years. From this perspective, many certainly turned up their noses at the absence of cross-play at launch, a feature now considered essential in titles strongly oriented towards multiplayer and the construction of a usual community. Even though it took several months, the wait has finally come to an end.
Crossplay will arrive together with Peacemaker, the new fighter from Kombat Pack 1, of which we saw a gameplay trailer yesterday.
