The DANA that has devastated various towns in Valencia and Castilla-La Mancha has left, for now, a tragic toll of more than 200 dead and a large number of missing.
Day after day, stories are heard of people who have not yet located their relatives or loved ones. One of them has been told by ex-footballer Fernando Morienteswho played for Valencia for three seasons and usually travels to the city with his family on a regular basis, where he keeps some friends.
The commentator also told Paco González this Saturday on COPE’s ‘Tiempo de Juego’ that he is continually “glued to the television” pending the situation. The tragedy has also touched him closely: a relative of his “best friend” is missing. After several days, Morientes explains that the family is looking for him “to say goodbye to him.”
A relative of Morientes’ best friend, disappeared by DANA
«The relative said goodbye to them, he was eating with four friends and when the flood came he ran to see if from the car “I could…”, he narrates in the program.
Seeing the situation once in the vehicle, he relates: “From the car, it seems to me that He called his wife to say goodbye. He hung up. He called his son to say goodbye and since then nothing has been known about him.
Although Morientes says that he does not know this person personally, it is a situation that affects his friend first-hand, who has gone to the town of Aldaya “collecting and helping where he could.” In his case, he explains that he calls every day “to see if they know anything about him,” although at the moment there is no news.

“He called his son to say goodbye.”
In that conversation with his wife, Morientes says, he wanted “to thank him for the life he had had with her and his son afterwards”. Very excited, the former soccer player explains that his friend’s relative “didn’t know where that car was taking him.”
This is one more story of the hundreds that are being known these days of victims and those affected by DANA. Meanwhile, rescue teams continue working to locate and identify the missing. Likewise, hundreds of volunteers come every day to help affected neighbors clean their homes and streets and a wave of solidarity has been unleashed throughout Spain.
