A total of 252 NGO from around the world signed a joint call this Thursday “to all countries” to stop the sale of “weaponscomponents and ammunition” to both Israel and Palestinian armed groups, as they may end up being used “to commit or facilitate serious violations of law international humanitarian and human rights“.
Among the signatories are some of the human rights or welfare NGOs with greater global deploymentsuch as Amnesty International, Oxfam, Doctors of the World and Cáritas, in addition to numerous churches of different Christian faiths and national associations of countries of almost all continents.
It is an appeal initially launched on January 24 of this year, signed then by 16 NGOs, and now updated.
The appeal, which can be found at reliefweb.int, notes that the international community has been unable to stop the war or increase the flow of humanitarian aid despite UN Security Council resolutions in this regard.
Therefore, he recalls that Member States “have the legal responsibility to use all tools and levers to force a increased protection of civilians“, at a time when Gaza's lifeline is practically “paralyzed by the intensity of hostilities, including shooting at aid convoys, blackouts, damaged roads and supply restrictions,” among other things.
Loop is today “the place more dangerous (of the world) to be a childa journalist or a humanitarian worker“, they remember.
