The region has confirmed its leadership position with forecasts that expect to exceed the 37 million visitors in 2025. This figure, announced by the president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, at the Fitur International Tourism Fair, consolidates the region as a reference destination for travelers from all over the world.
Enjoy a few days of sun and beach in some of the best hotels in the worldski days, urban and cultural getaways, rural and nature tourism, delving into history or walking through small towns where time stands still. The options that Andalusia offers are endless and are also being reinforced by a strong cdevelopment of air routes and an intense improvement of the hotel plant.
The just finished 2024 has marked a historical milestone for Andalusian tourism. The region reached 36.2 million tourists5.5% more than in 2023, and achieved an economic impact of 28,695 million eurosa nominal growth of 13.3%.
Additionally, travelers spent an average of 82 euros daily21% more than in 2019. These figures reflect the attraction capacity of tourism with greater purchasing power. Another important figure is that tourism generated around 400,000 jobs 4% more than the previous year, consolidating the sector as a key source of employment.
“These data are not a coincidence, but the result of intelligent promotion to attract the tourist that interests us most, the one who spends the most and travels in less saturated times,” Moreno commented during his speech.
The role of air connectivity
The expansion of the air routes has become a determining factor for tourism growth. In 2024, Andalusian airports will manage 132,000 flights10% more than in 2023. The Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport led with more than 18 million passengers and new routes to destinations such as Tel Aviv, Bari and Bucharest. By 2025, connections with Milan and Liverpoolwhich will contribute to consolidating its network of more than 150 international destinations.
Sevillefor its part, has reinforced its connectivity with routes to Stockholm, Trieste and Madeira in 2024, while in 2025 flights to Istanbul, Rome and Dublin. Among the most anticipated openings for 2025, the Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Solnear Sotogrande, with 153 rooms and 47 villas. In MalagaCatalonia Hotels&Resorts is about to complete a four-star hotel in the center of the city, it will have 72 rooms and has involved an investment of 24 million euros and the comprehensive renovation of several buildings.
