Work in progress at the Autodromo di Monza, which concern the resurfacing of asphalt and curbs, the construction of a new underpass in Vedano and the improvement of existing tunnels. The Minister of Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, inaugurated the works, with a forecast of completion by June, in 140 days. The Bacchi company of Milan is responsible for the works for a total of 21 million euros.
Works at the Monza racetrack
In anticipation of Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday 1 September 2024, the Monza track changes its face. The works of renovationmanaged by Milanese company Bacchi, they started on Monday 8 January 2024, with a total cost of 21 million euros. Changes include the renovation of the pit underpass dedicated exclusively to pedestrians to improve safety.
Other underpasses, such as those near the swimming pool and on viale Mirabello, will be demolished and rebuilt to allow the vehicular and pedestrian transit more safely. The works also concern the runway where the reconstruction of the curbs, asphalt and the water collection and drainage system is planned, to cope with torrential rain.
Duration of works
The work on the Monza track is expected to last in 140 days, with delivery expected by June. The changes were requested to adapt the Autodrome to the new ones Formula 1 standards. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport also participated in the start of the works, Matteo Salvini.
During the press conference on the start of the renovation works at the Monza National Autodrome, the president of the Automobile Club of Italy, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, emphasized the importance of modernizing the Autodrome. He stated the goal of improving comfort for fans, solving the runoff problems and renovate the stands to make them more robust and offer adequate services.
Furthermore, the construction of one is planned permanent coverage for the boxes and the structural reinforcement of the pillars. Sticchi Damiani expressed his desire to guarantee the Italian Grand Prix in Monza until 2030 and beyond, aiming for a renewal that ensures a lasting future for the Autodrome.
