Japanese publisher Capcom has announced that the Monster Hunter series passed the 100 million copies sold globally. This is a truly enormous result, to which must be added that of Monster Hunter Risewhich has sold more than 15 million copies, with the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion surpassing 8 million copies sold.
A huge success, in short, which gives us hope for the next chapter, Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled for the first months of 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, when the twentieth anniversary of the series will be celebrated.
To celebrate these excellent results, Capcom also released a celebratory artwork dedicated expressly to Rise, which you can find below.
Celebrations underway
As you can see, the image also contains thanks from the staff, as well as reporting the sales of Rise.
The latest data relating to Monster Hunter Rise dates back to the beginning of the year, in which sales of 13.6 million units were declared. In just a few months, the game sold approximately another 1.4 million copies. Note that sales of the base game and expansion have been consistent over the years.
However, the best-selling chapter of the series remains Monster Hunter: World with 25 million units. Launched seven years ago now, it was able to sell around 1 million copies a year even long after the release date, becoming a long-term success. It is also the best-selling Capcom game ever.
The Monster Hunter series began in 2005 on PS2, with the launch of the first chapter, simply called Monster Hunter. There are currently five generations of games in the series, each headed by one of the main chapters. Wilds should mark the beginning of the sixth generation, as well as the eighteenth game of the series (net of the many spin-offs). The wait is obviously enormous, given the results of the latest episodes, which have made Monster Hunter a world-class intellectual property.
