F1 Monaco, the chronicle of FP2
Shine Charles Leclerc in FP2 in Monaco. Ferrari’s local idol appeared possessed and super concentrated, putting in a consecutive series of fast laps in the qualifying simulation and taking the lead best time of day in front of what will be his future teammate in Maranello next year, Lewis Hamilton. The Briton appeared competitive in the Mercedes, as did his historic rival Fernando Alonsoeven third with an Aston Martin returning to provide interesting performances on the flying lap.
And Verstappen? The reigning world champion did better than in FP1, but still had to settle for fourth fastest time, about half a second behind Leclerc. Norris’ McLaren was fifth, first of the papaya cars, ahead of Sainz, Stroll, a disappointing Perez, Albon and Russell. Outside the top-10 was Oscar Piastri, only 12th but who did not set his best time on the red tyre.
