His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that the challenge of Arab reading is the largest and most successful investment in the Arab mind and Arab awareness and its return will put us on the right path to resume our Arab civilization by building new generations capable of upgrading their societies.
This came in conjunction with the announcement of the date of the final ceremony of the challenge, which will be held in attendance for the first time after the Covid-19 pandemic, on November 10, 2022 at Dubai Opera.
His Highness said: “Six years ago, we launched the Arab Reading Challenge…because we believe that the path to civilization begins with reading… Next Thursday, we will celebrate 22 million students from 92,000 schools who participated in the sixth session of the largest Arab competition.”
His Highness added: “Millions of young people scramble to read 50 books every year is a scramble towards a better future for all of us, God willing.”
His Highness continued: “Since its launch in 2015, 79 million students have participated in the Arab Reading Challenge. These are the beacons of knowledge who will lead our evolutionary path in the coming decades.”
His Highness added, “We have always believed in future generations, and here is the challenge of Arab reading that proves for the sixth time in a row that hope is in its place and hope is in its place.”
His Highness expressed his confidence in all participants in the reading challenge, saying: “The Arab reading challenge has proven that the passion for knowledge cannot be extinguished… and our Arab youth have proven that they are up to hope and hope… and that our bet on them was right.”

Three competing schools
The closing ceremony will witness the announcement of the school winning the title of “Distinguished School” in the sixth session of the Arab Reading Challenge, after it qualified out of the 92,583 schools that participated in the challenge.
The school winning the title will receive honor on the platform of the closing ceremony of the Arab Reading Challenge in Dubai, along with an award to enhance its capabilities to invest in perpetuating the concept of reading as a daily habit among students and to continue raising their scientific and cognitive levels.
Honoring the distinguished supervisor
The ceremony will also witness the awarding of the “Outstanding Supervisor” out of 126,061 supervisors who contributed to empowering students. The winner will receive a prize to continue his efforts in empowering future generations with reading and reading skills, and to benefit from books and choose the most valuable ones.

With the opening of participation for students outside the Arab world and communities in the third session of the challenge, the number of participants approached 10.5 million, while the number of participants in the fourth session of the challenge exceeded 13.5 million students from 49 countries, so that the number of participants in the fifth session reached more than 20 million male and female students, reaching 22.27 million participants in this sixth session. The growth rate of the number of students participating in the sixth session compared to the first session of the challenge reached 536%, which is a very large percentage that reflects the growing importance of the challenge in instilling a love of reading in the Arabic language.
