His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received members of the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity. During the meeting, which took place at Al Bahr Palace, His Highness welcomed the committee’s efforts to promote the values of the “Human Fraternity Document”, the essence of which is harmony, coexistence and understanding, as well as launching initiatives that serve all of humanity. During the meeting, His Highness stressed the continuation of the UAE’s approach to work to consolidate the values of coexistence, human fraternity and harmony, pointing out the importance of strengthening these values today more than ever, especially in light of the common challenges facing the world .. She confirmed the “Covid pandemic – 19» The urgent need for cooperation and human solidarity between societies and countries to confront it and overcome its effects. His Highness also affirmed the UAE’s support for the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity, which is working to achieve the goals and principles of the historic “Human Fraternity Document”.
For their part, the members of the committee briefed His Highness on the committee’s initiatives and goals for 2022 in order to advance human brotherhood at the global level and build partnerships for the future, expressing their gratitude for His Highness’ patronage and appreciation for his wise vision in supporting issues of human coexistence among all people without discrimination and his efforts to achieve world peace.
Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary-General of the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity, expressed “the Supreme Committee’s deep gratitude for the support of His Highness and his interest in achieving the goals of the document, which gives the Higher Committee an incentive to move forward in its efforts to make a positive impact in the region and the world.” He added, “The historic moment of human brotherhood that the world witnessed three years ago in Abu Dhabi… has now turned into a global project thanks to the great support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for this humanitarian project.”
For his part, Cardinal Miguel Angel Ayuso Jaixot, Chairman of the Meetings of the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity, expressed his appreciation and His Holiness Pope Francis for the support of His Highness the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity and the humanitarian projects and initiatives that it implements, stressing that what the UAE leadership is doing represents an inspiring model for many Countries, and the world are in dire need of such efforts today.
The Commission
The Higher Committee for Human Fraternity – an independent international committee established to promote the values of human brotherhood – includes religious scholars and international figures in the fields of culture and education from the United Arab Emirates, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America, as well as Spain, Bulgaria, Liberia and Romania.. Its membership includes the Cardinal Miguel Angel Ayuso Jaixot, Chairman of the Meetings of the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity and President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue in the Holy See, Counselor Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary General of the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity and former advisor to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar University, Dr. Muhammad Hussein Al-Mahrasawi, President of Al-Azhar University, and Irina Bokova, Director Former General of UNESCO, Rabbi Bruce Lustig, Chief Rabbi of the Hebrew Congregation in Washington, Reverend Dr. Iwan Sokka, Secretary-General of the World Council of Churches, and Lema Gbowee, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, His Excellency Mohammed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi, and Dr. Sultan Faisal Al Rumaithi, Secretary-General The Muslim Council of Elders, Monsignor Younes Lahzi Gaid, former Personal Secretary of His Holiness Alba Pa Francis, and Yasser Hareb, an Emirati writer and TV presenter.
It is noteworthy that the meeting comes ahead of the world’s celebration of the International Day of Human Fraternity, which falls on the fourth of February of each year, which also coincides with the third anniversary of the signing of the “Document on Human Fraternity” by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar and His Holiness Pope Francis.
