Humberto Gleydson Fontinele Alencar was director of the prison unit during the escape of 2 prisoners, on February 14
The Ministry of Justice and Public Security fired Humberto Gleydson Fontinele Alencar from his position as director of the Mossoró Federal Penitentiary, in Rio Grande do Norte. The measure was published in this Friday's edition (April 5, 2024) of Official Diary of the Union. Here's the complete of the ordinance (PDF – 112 kB).
Alencar and the entire management of the Mossoró prison had been away from their positions since February 14, when 2 prisoners escaped from the federal unit.
On Thursday (April 4), 50 days after the escape, the Ministry of Justice announced the capture of fugitives Deibson Nascimento and Rogério Mendonça and 4 other people by the PF (Federal Police). The group was found in Marabá, Pará, around 1,600 km from the Mossoró penitentiary. Despite carrying a rifle, there was no resistance or exchange of fire during the operation.
The detainees are identified as members of the criminal faction CV (Comando Vermelho) and considered highly dangerous by security agents. Investigations indicate that they were heading abroad when they were arrested.
