Miluska Eskenazi prefers acting to singing
—Are you more of a singer than an actress or more of an actress than a singer?
—I'm more of an actress than a singer. I have been dedicated to musical theater since I was 18 years old. I like acting more, that's why I don't dedicate myself entirely to singing. I don't release songs, just some covers and I don't see myself making a career as a singer.
—Any role you dream of playing?
—Wow! I would love to play the bad guy. I think it is a great challenge because it is quite a complicated job. Making people believe you is all about character building and that's what I like.

—Has it gone well for you as a theater actress?
—I have been a theater actress since I was almost 18 years old, I have played different roles because I do musical theater, and there are different profiles there.
—And on television?
—The most notable thing I did was in 'Llauca', where I was a humble person, who wanted to sing salsa and was 'bullied' for her weight. At that time I weighed 90 kilos. Then they called me to be in Susy Díaz's film, where I play a funny journalist.
Miluska Eskenazi and her radical physical change
—How has your life changed since you had the gastric sleeve done?
-I I did the gastric sleeve and it changed my life. The truth is that the physique does play a role in a job as an actress, because now I have a lot more work. Now they call me, they propose me, I go to casting more safely.
—Have you lost job opportunities because of your previous weight?
-Yeah. I know that many say that your talent is what matters, but in truth talent does not always prevail and everyone knows it. It's the talent and the physique.

—Did you also do it to increase your self-esteem?
-Of course. Imagine going and buying clothes and having them look beautiful on you.
—Has someone ever made you feel bad while shopping for clothes?
—Yes, it was horrible. I thought it fit me well, and when I got home—because sometimes I was lazy and didn't want to try on the place—it didn't fit; and I had to return it. And when my weight was very high, I didn't even buy clothes anymore. I felt very bad because people look at you, those who sell look at you and say 'I don't think that fits you' or 'I don't think there is one in your size'. So, that makes you feel horrible.
—What was the worst experience?
—Once, when I went to buy a blouse, they told me 'I don't think we have your size.' I told him 'I haven't even tried it on, I think it fits', then he told me 'but don't wear it'. It was horrible and now that doesn't happen to me anymore.
Miluska Eskenazi recommends a comprehensive change
—Have you had psychological support to face these changes in your life?
—I was with a bariatric nutritionist and also with a psychologist, who is the person who has explained many topics to me, has helped me eat much better and understand my body to be able to understand why I eat such an amount. Everything is a process, it is not easy.

—What has been the most difficult part of the process?
—Control your anxiety and see, for example, a giant piece of meat and only eat less than a quarter of it, or want to continue eating it and not be able to. That's frustrating, but I've already managed to cope.
-You live alone?
—No, I live with 'roomies'. But I'm focused on me.
—Isn't living with people who don't have the same healthy life as you complicated for you?
—Not anymore, I already learned to eat and I learned to sit at a table with someone who is eating a lomo saltado and I am eating a salad. But it's not that I can't eat a lomo saltado, I eat everything, but very little. What I do do is always prioritize protein, vitamins and everything that will help my body.
—What would you say to those people who are overweight and who want that change in their life?
—For me, bariatric surgery has been a great opportunity. I think it was a great decision because I suffered from knee pain, back pain, insulin resistance and prediabetes, but now I don't have anything because I eat healthier, I already lost weight. Yes it is for health.
