Millonarios has had a complicated start to the season with injuries. Danovis Banguero, Daniel Cataño, Juan Carlos Pereira, Jader Valencia, Samuel Asprilla, Luis Paredes and Diego Abadía are in the medical department for different reasons.
The captain and team leader, David Mackalister Silva, was added to that list on January 31, who left the field in the 7th minute, in the match that his team tied 1-1 with Alianza FC at the El Campín stadium.
Silva, winner of five titles with the club (Liga 2017-II and 2023-I, Copa Colombia 2022 and Superliga 2018 and 2024), is a key player on the field and off it for coach Alberto Gamero and the team has felt his absence in the last games.
This is Mackalister Silva's disability time
This Wednesday Alberto Gamero's team will host América de Cali (8 pm) and the following Sunday they will visit Atlético Nacional (6:10 pm) and will have to do so without Mackalister.
“David Mackalister Silva will be absent from the courts for two and a half weeks after the official opinion of the Millonarios medical team that came out today. Grade 2 muscle injury in the posterior,” reported journalist Guillermo Arango.
In the absence of confirmation in the club's official accounts, it is clear that Gamero's plans will change. If the announced disability period is met, Silva will not be on the seventh date either, against Águilas Doradas. He would reappear against the Patriots.
Without Silva the team clearly loses offensive power, since he offers passes and shots on goal as well as a lot of authority on the field.
Millonarios will arrive, no matter what happens, outside the top eight of the League for the game against América. Although on Sunday it was in the qualifying zone, what happens in the matches on the fourth date will cause one of the teams that play on Monday or Tuesday to pass it in the standings.
