The judge who investigates the two daughters of the late Fèlix Millet, looter of the Palau de la Música, allegedly avoid the return of the plunder, has agreed that both declare by videoconference from Australia and the US, the countries in which they reside since 2009.
According to legal sources to eldiario.es, the telematic appearance, initially scheduled for this February, has been set for next July.
More than a decade after the outbreak of the case, around 14 million of the 23 have been recovered that, according to the judgment of the case, looted Millet and his second, Jordi Montull. They continue to sell seized properties of the convicted to deal with compensation.
The other open cause to the former Palau’s ex -correspondible due to the problems in the return of the plunder ended in acquittal. The Barcelona hearing excerned Jordi Montull and his wife, Mercè Mir, having hidden the collection of 31,500 euros of a rent so as not to return the looting to the cultural entity.
The new investigation against the Sisters Millet focuses on the rental contracts with their father who allegedly have assumed preferential acquisition rights when the houses were auctioned. His statement as investigated is practically the last diligence to practice before the judge decides whether the case goes to trial or files.
In the case, the former Millet, Jordi Montull, as well as his daughter Gemma Montull – also also sentenced but who has never come to prison – as well as his mother, Mercè Mir. Fèlix Millet was also investigated, but his death extinguishes any type of criminal responsibility.
At first, the judge who then directed the investigation failed to find Clara and Laila Millet in Perth (Australia) and Madison (USA), cities to which they moved after the scandal was discovered in 2009. At the request of the Anti -Corruption Prosecutor’s Office , he even sent a team from the Mossos d’Esquadra to the funeral of the looter of the Palau de la Música in March 2023 to give them his citation as investigated, without success.
Finally, both sisters requested in 2023 to declare by videoconference from Australia and the US, the countries in which they reside since 2009. Laila Millet (not clear, which was acquitted) was convicted as civil responsible for lucrative basis of the plunder.
The two sisters had to return to Barcelona to declare in the trial in 2017. In their appearance before the court, Clara Millet claimed that it was never “occurred” that their wedding was paid with funds from the institution and was outraged because the accusations They demanded to return the expenses of the banquet: “Let them also claim the guests, right?”
Millet also took advantage of his interrogation to lash out at the press and the “media massacre” that he believes his family is being a victim. “This wedding seems to be of national interest and I am tired of hearing so many lies,” said Clara Millet.
