Milan-Inter, Acerbi-Thuram, nightmares of the Devil. The promoted ones
Acerbi rating 8: unlocks the derby with an imperious header two steps from Maignan. In defense he doesn't do anything wrong. Him with Pavard-Bastoni (score 7) they erect a wall that Milan sometimes only manage to scratch
Thuram rating 7.5: the man of the Rossoneri's nightmares, after the goal at the top corner of the first leg, the Frenchman repeats himself with the 2-0 goal that kills the Devil at the start of the second half (after chipping the post in the 38th minute). And that feeling of anxiety that he gives to Milan's defense every time he receives the ball or runs deep
Sommer rating 7: he cancels the goal scream against Calabria at 1-0, the save on Leao in the 28th minute is less demanding
Stretcher rating 7: he is everywhere, he defends, doubles, recovers the ball and starts again. A thorn in the side that tears through Milan's midfield and brings the Devil's defense to its knees. With Calhanoglu and Mkhitaryan (6.5 rating) always ready to support him.
Dimarco rating 7: he defends (without great difficulty) and as soon as he can he shifts into fifth gear and sets off again at full speed
Calabria rating 6: the best of Milan. Like everyone else, he suffers from Inter's outbursts, but he puts a lot of heart into it, playing an all-out game and even coming close to scoring the equalizer. Half a point less for the expulsion in the 97th minute
Milan-Inter, Maignan cheats on Thuram's goal. Theo Hernandez and Loftus Cheek don't make an impact. The failed ones
Tomori-Gabbia rating 5.5: Thuram suffers, they see their defense collapse on Acerbi's goal (a photocopy of the one scored by Mancini in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals ten days ago against Roma) – but it can't just be their fault – they are pardoned by Lautaro who makes a sensational mistake the 2-0. Half a point more each for the 2-1 goal: Gabbia scores, forcing Sommer to deflect onto the post and Tomori puts it in.
Lautaro rating 5: he misses the 2-0 goal and is perhaps the least brilliant in an Inter team that suffers from some initiatives from the Devil (but overall he always gives the feeling of being in control of the derby). He is the MVP of this championship and you can forgive him for the gray evening.
Maignan rating 5: zero blame in Acerbi's goal, but on Thuram's low shot the Rossoneri world would have expected a response worthy of the fame of Magic Mike.
Leao rating 5: as a striker, or false new if you prefer, he stings little. On the only counterattack (triggered by Musah) in which he could make his horses move as best as possible, Sommer defuses the Portuguese's shot (a little too off-centre) without any major worries. In the second half he finds it again Giroud (vote 5) as a reference point in the middle, but the derby is now gone. Gabbia's play was good in the 2-1 action, but it was too little.
Pulisic rating 5: Captain America seems a little lost in the Milan derby who take to the pitch without a real center forward. At 2-0 he has the ball for a possible goal to reopen the match but he sends it high.
Theo Hernandez rating 4.5: few accelerations from the Rossoneri left wing in the first half. He grows a little in the second half. But then there is also the expulsion in the final seconds.
Reijnders rating 4.5: almost zero creativity and a lot of effort to contain the acceleration and physicality of the Nerazzurri. On similar standards Adli and Musah (vote 5). Milan (also) loses this derby first of all in midfield.
Loftus Cheek rating 4.5: he should be the key to opening Inter's defense with his physique, technique or ability to insert himself, but he is practically never seen
