Milan and Gerry Cardinale add up: sponsors-revenues boom. And the balance sheet… The Rossoneri numbers
Milan announces Paulo Fonseca new coach by Ibrahimovicwork on solving the center forward knot with Joshua Zirkzee and the ‘commissions node’ to be resolved (“He’s a strong player, it’s no secret, he has potential and has had a great season. Then between the rumors going around and reality there are two big differences”, said Zlatan in a press conference at Milanello) and a purchasing campaign that will aim for targeted additions (in summary: a ‘dam’ in midfield, central defender and right back).
But the club led by Gerry Cardinale can look to the future with great optimism because it is building it on solid foundations from an economic-financial point of view. And, in this sense, the second positive closing of the budget is foreseeable on June 30th, after that of 2023. A result that testifies to the excellent work carried out in recent years and which represents the basis for aiming for the victories that the fans dream of.
Also because, a not irrelevant detail, Milan’s RedBird philosophy is that the positive operating cash flow generated is invested on the market to improve the team (in the last three seasons 191 million euros of net investments in the team, the highest figure in Serie A overall). The results on the field? A scudetto and two second places in the last 4 seasons (in addition to the semi-finals of the Champions League and Europa League). “Gerry is a winner: he wants to arrive with Milan, do it his way and with ambition to create a winning project not only for the present but in the long term”, Ibrahimovic explained to Milan when talking about Cardinale.
Some significant trends. The 2023/23 financial year had seen the strong contribution to the growth in revenues coming from the commercial front and sponsorships at +44.4 million euros with significant renewals of partnerships in the last two years with PUMA and Emirates, the main sponsors of the Club, but also with BMW or Banco BPM (without forgetting the relationships initiated by RedBird with New York Yankees, Warner Brothers-Dwayne Johnson, and Off-White , Style Partner and Cultural Curator). And last season began with equally important agreements, such as the entry of MSC as sleeve sponsor. It’s still. From the media and TV rights front +41.8 million, on match days and ticketing +40.3 million in a season which saw 1.9 million Rossoneri fans (1,909,210) at San Siro (the highest figure in Italy).
Furthermore, in the last four years, revenues have grown by 14% per year, going from 241 million to 404.5 mm euros (source: ACM statutory financial statements), while EBITDA went from a loss of €45mm to a gain of €93mm.
Meanwhile, Milan’s Under 23 team is warming up and should participate in the next Lega Pro championship with Daniele Bonera on the bench (and the young striker Francesco Camarda, fresh from renewalin the Rossoneri squad with a view to the first team). A project to enhance the young people who have graduated from the Primavera (this year finalist in the Youth League, the youth Champions) with an investment of 12 million euros (third club in Italy to have an Under23 team together with Juventus and Atalanta). With many prospects on the launching pad in the short and medium term: not just the young striker Francesco Camarda, fresh from renewalbut also Mattia Liberali (also a protagonist in Italy’s Under 17 European champions, “he reminds me of Foden” Billy Costacurta said of him), without forgetting the various Kevin Zeroli, Bartesaghi, Simic, Sia and Cuenca.
Milan which in the meantime is slowly expanding throughout the world. During the season, the Via Aldo Rossi Club opened a new headquarters in the Middle East (Casa Milan Dubai) and launched several Academies (such as the one in Virginia (USA) or Dubai).
