Mike Tysonone of the greatest legends of American boxing, has been sued in the state of New York by a woman who accuses him of having raped her in the early 1990s.

Scandal

The woman claims $5 million in damages, according to court documents filed this month with an Albany city court and released Tuesday.

The lawsuit is based on a law that has opened a one-year period in New York to seek justice for sexual crimes that have so far been prescribed and under which legal actions have also been initiated against other well-known figures such as the former US president. Donald Trump or the actor Bill Cosby.

In this case, the alleged victim claims that she met Tyson at a club in Albany and that she later got into a vehicle with him to go find a friend. “Tyson immediately started touching me and tried to kiss me. He told him no several times and I asked him to stop, but he kept attacking me.

Then he took off my pants and violently raped me,” the plaintiff explains in an affidavit.

The woman, whose identity remains anonymous, does not specify the date of the attack beyond that it occurred in the early 1990s. In 1991, Tyson was arrested for raping an 18-year-old woman,

Desiree Washington, in an Indianapolis hotel and later sentenced to six years in prison, of which he served just under three in prison. The 56-year-old boxer, who was world heavyweight champion between 1987 and 1990, always maintained his innocence in that case.
