Miguel Ángel López lost the fight against the International Cycling Union (UCI). This Wednesday, the Colombian was found guilty of the use and possession of a substance prohibited in the regulations and was sentenced to 4 years.
“In accordance with the World Anti-Doping Code and the UCI Anti-Doping Regulations, the suspension period began on July 25, 2023 and will remain in force until July 24, 2027. We recall that the disciplinary procedure was initiated following an investigation carried out carried out by the International Testing Agency (ITA) based on evidence obtained from the Spanish Civil Guard and the Spanish Anti-Doping Agency (CELAD) in the so-called Operation “llex” on Dr. Marcos Maynar. The UCI appreciates this valuable collaboration.
“Furthermore, in accordance with the Court’s Rules of Procedure, the decision will be published on the UCI website. The decision may be appealed to the
Court of Arbitration for Sports (TAS) within one month. “The UCI will not make any further comments on the case.”
