MEXICO CITY.- Mexico and the United States they plan an orderly migration of temporary workers through the granting of H-2 visas, as is already done with Canada.
In recent days, the governments of both countries signed a memorandum, where they recognize the importance of recruitment and employment practices applicable to temporary workers.
According to the document, it will be through the platform of the National Employment Servicewhich operates the Secretary of Labor, that labor mobility options will be presented towards USA, according to the memorandum.
Both countries warned that fair hiring processes for quality farm and non-farm employment will be enforced. They also talk about avoiding discrimination.
“The memorandum is a general framework through which we are going to be able to land these goals, what it is about is establishing a plan like the one already in place with Canada, based on the PTAT (Seasonal Agricultural Workers Program), where all Every year, more than 24,000 day laborers travel in an orderly manner with the support of the Ministry of Labor.
“They work from 3 to 6 months and return to the country, they do it with these visas, with the certainty that they will not fall prey to recruiters, or any type of intermediation fraud and it is the example that we know today as a successful example, which can be applied with the United States”, stated the Secretary of Labor, Luisa Alcalde.
