It finally seems that Minecraft is coming to PlayStation 5 in native version tooafter years of waiting by the community. The announcement was made by Microsoft and Mojang via the game’s official X account, in which the game’s future was outlined, at least in the short term.
All the major news
Mojang therefore plans to launch various free multiple drops throughout the yearto change the format of Minecraft Live, removing mob voting and, indeed, to launch a native version for PlayStation 5.
Not that Minecraft hasn’t been playable on Sony’s latest-generation console until now, since it is possible launch the PlayStation 4 version in backwards compatibility. That said, a native version is definitely great news, as it will improve the game’s performance and allow developers to better exploit the console’s advanced features, providing an overall better experience.
Unfortunately, the announcement is very brief and details are lacking. What can be read about the PlayStation 5 version is simply that “We are currently working on a native version of Minecraft for PlayStation 5, because Minecraft is best when friends can play together on whatever device they want.” That’s it. There’s also talk of improvements to the multiplayer experience, with easier ways to find and connect with friends, but there’s no specific information on the new version of the game.
