Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro used her Instagram profile to speak out for the first time about the accusations that she would have appropriated part of the salary of a friend who was employed in the Federal Senate, supposedly configuring the practice of “splitting”. Michelle published a photo showing, according to her, all proof of personal purchases made during the government of former President Jair Bolsonaro and lamented the “betrayal of someone who was on her side”.
“How good God is and does not let us be deceived by absolutely nothing. We have all the audios of the former employee who implied that I was receiving ‘kickbacks’ from my friend in the article published today. He knows very well that he was going to leave clothes, accessories that I lent her and, last time, he brought pajamas as a Christmas present”, he defended himself. According to the former first lady, all proof of personal purchases made in the four years of government, except for her silicone exchange, are in her custody. “The only thing missing is the silicone replacement because my doctor didn’t charge,” she wrote.
According to a report published by the Metrópoles portal, officials at the government headquarters and the couple’s residence reported cash flows between the Planalto Palace and the Alvorada Palace to cover expenses for Michelle and relatives. Messages obtained through the portal indicate that Army lieutenant colonel Mauro Cesar Cid, who was the former president’s assistant, would be responsible for delivering money envelopes sent by Rosimary Cardoso Cordeiro, a close friend of Michelle.
On the list of expenses allegedly paid regularly by Cid was the tuition of former first lady Geovanna Kathleen’s half-sister. All arrangements would be made via WhatsApp.
In January 2021, according to the report, an advisor to Alvorada asked Cid to transfer R$3,000 to the first lady. “Good afternoon, Cel. Dona Michelle asked you to transfer 3,000 to her account!”, says the message obtained by the portal. According to the complaint, Cid’s team made deposits in cash, directly into the cash register, when they had to send funds to the first lady’s personal account.
The reports state that Rosimary sent regular orders, through envelopes, by which it was possible to identify the transfer of money in cash. The suspicion among the employees is that the friend passed on part of the salary she earned as an advisor to Senator Roberto Rocha (PTB-MA), who ended his term at the end of January. After Michelle’s arrival as First Lady, Rosimary’s salary as an aide nearly tripled.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court, is already investigating cases of moral harassment of employees and unusual financial transactions that took place in Alvorada, according to the website. According to reports, “a cleanup” of several items in the pantry of the palace kitchens was carried out by Michelle and some of the former president’s trusted employees.
Boxes with cuts of picanha, shrimp and cod, bought with public money, were removed from the refrigerated chamber attached to the kitchen during the family’s move. Another episode cited by the complaint states that the coins thrown into the water mirror that adorns the entrance to Alvorada were “fished” by employees in the last days of 2022. The action would have been authorized by the former first lady and, supposedly, would be donated to a church.
