MG brings the version to the Italian market gas of the model ZS, car that is also available in pure electric format. And with a truly competitive price, less than 14,000 euros as a launch base, it immediately sets out on the hunt for a slice of the market that occupies above all Dacia. In fact, the MG ZS is inspired by rival Sandero Stepway in many ways, echoing not only the convenience for the wallet, but also the general first impression on the interior and performance.

It is in fact a car that does not hide its simplicity at all. The 1.5 petrol engine is not particularly bright but we imagine it taking on enormous strides in terms of mileage. The gearbox has a good response and is sufficiently smooth, while for braking you have to press the pedal a little more than expected. Weight balance can also be improved, but if you don’t pull her neck it becomes a negligible factor.

The infotainment system deserves a point in favor, because it provides the basic structure typical of a modern car, even in the cheapest range of the market. Nothing is missing in this sense and this care is also reflected in the comfort, which is good. The soft carbon-effect dashboard upholstery is a plus; and in this regard, the materials used seem sufficiently resistant to the touch. As for the space available, there is nothing to complain about: it is as abundant inside the passenger compartment as it is in the trunk, and in this sense the price is certainly affordable.

For the Italian market, net of the guarantee (which also in the MG case has a long duration) and safety, these cars are certainly necessary. Considering that one of these cars pollutes less than a ‘corresponding’ 15 years ago, and that from the point of view of comfort, safety and systems, considerable progress has been made, there is no doubt: who wants to buy a car that “makes the car”, without further embellishments, can choose it and use it as it was designed. That is, not to ‘tear’, not to ‘overdo it’, to go shopping and go on vacation without thinking about the size.
